How to disable Windows Security

🔴 Important: Do not forget to re-enable your antivirus after installation to keep your system secure.

Windows 8 / 8.1

Temporarily Disable Windows Defender:

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Go to System and Security > Action Center.
  3. Click Windows Defender.
  4. In Windows Defender, go to the Settings tab.
  5. Uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
  6. Click Save changes.

Windows 10

Temporarily Disable Windows Defender:

  1. Open the Start Menu and type Windows Security. Open the app.
  2. Click Virus & threat protection.
  3. Under Virus & threat protection settings, click Manage settings.
  4. Turn off Real-time protection.

Windows 11

Temporarily Disable Windows Defender:

  1. Open the Start Menu > Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security
  1. Click Virus & threat protection.

  1. Turn off Real-time protection.
